Hello dear friends,
Ok, the first few weeks really seemed to crawl by, and it is still hard to believe that it was less than a month ago that I was playing Cranium with my sisters at 1 in the morning. (Alison and Anna, that is a memory I will always cherish). But, to think that I have been in Fresnillo for almost 4 weeks is also mind blowing.
Lyle and Mary Dorsett arrived on Sunday, and we had a 4th of July party on Monday. That was fun, but the missionaries who have been here for more than a few weeks really enjoyed it. We also played football (American, and Ultimate Frisbee on Monday- so much fun) The Dorsetts are wonderful people. I have the privilage of living with them. Lyle is teaching seminars 2 days a week for the 3 weeks they are here. It has been an excercize for the mind as one teammate put it. Ok, let me explain. Lyle just finished his last semester of teaching at Wheaton College where he was one of the favorite professors. He has the gift of teaching, and he is SO passionate for the Lord- it is really like a feast and workout of the mind, and heart and soul all at the same time. Today he taught on the Holy Spirit and we ended with a time of prayer, applying right away his point that one way to be filled with the Spirit, is to pray and ask for it. I really don't have the words to explain any more, but I want to say again, that I am loving this teaching time. And it is more than teaching.
Thank you to those who have sent me mail! I LOVE getting mail! I have drawings decorating my walls, thanks to Discovery Grace kids. :) It is such a blessing to hear about you, my friends. This may sound strange, but sometimes I forget that Fresnillo is part of the same world as Maryland and North Carolina and the rest of the states. I have to remind myself that life is going on in Cary without me- that sounds really self centered. But, it helps to hear about you guys.
This week God blessed me with Elizabeth as my new weekly prayer partner and Christy as a mentor! God has blessed me so much! I am very gratefull for these people. I was looking at the green tile floor in my room today, and was reminded of God's goodness. Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Why wouldn't God give me a green tile floor? He didn't have to. I consider it rubbish compared to knowing Him, but He knows that out all the possible floors in the world, that this one is just perfect to me. I mean, yellow and green are my favorite colors, and thats what my room is! God is good. He gave me a sweet room, and a prayer partner and a mentor, and a whole team of wonderfull brothers and sisters. And best of all, He gave me His Son. Praises to God our Father!
So, what about the kids, Mara?
July is a month of teaching, and planning. I will spend some one on one time with a few kids, and Saturday afternoons with all the kids who come to the feeding program. Escuelita de Verano (Vacation Bible School) starts the second week of August. I am looking forward to that, and studying Spanish in the mean time. Looking foreward to it is an understatement.
Ok, a mosquito has found me in the computer room, so it's time to go somewhere else to read my mail. Yay, mail!
